My dear Californians

There are things that I do not wish to read, e.g.

  • “Und warum sind das jetzt abends schon wieder 27 Grad in der Wohnung? Mitten im Winter?”
  • “Alles gut hier drĂĽben. Die KirschblĂĽten spriessen und das Wetter wird warm und wärmer.”
  • “Went to the beach and had a lovely time. Even me got a tan. Somewhat anyway. The others called it ‘sun-burn’.”
  • “Wish you’d been here: we had a great BBQ in our backyard the other day.”

Do I really have to tell you that I haven’t worn sandals in ages, have no effing clou why I brought my T-shirts or any other summer gear over here, don’t even know what “tan” means anymore and I am cold whenever I am outside* irrespective from the amount of layers I am wearing and yes, that includes scarfs (note the plural!) and gloves (okay, plural here comes naturally).

You know me and the mood I get in when I am cold. It doesn’t really help to know that y’all are warm. It just adds kinda homesickness to the freezing.

* Even though people here call this a “mild winter”.
