“Mondegreens”

nennt man Verhörer in der Musik, wie zum Beispiel den “weißen Neger Wumbaba” und “Owi lacht”. Wir verdanken diesen Begriff Sylvia Wright, die als Kind die Ballade The “Bonny Earl of Murray” folgendermaßen mißhörte:

Ye highlands and ye lowlands
Oh where have you been?
Thou have slay the Earl of Murray
And Lady Mondegreen

wo die letzten beiden Zeilen eigentlich lauten: slay the Earl of Murray and laid him on the green

Ich bin gerade wieder auf ein paar sehr hübsche gestoßen:

— Excuse me while I kiss this guy = Excuse me while I kiss the sky (Purple Haze, Jimi Hendrix)

— There’s a bathroom on the right = There’s a bad moon on the rise (Bad Moon Rising, Credence Clearwater Revival)

— I’ll never leave your pizza burning = I’ll never be your beast of burden (Beast of Burden, Rolling Stones)

— Sweet cream is made of cheese / Who am I to disagree / Travelled the world in generic jeans = Sweet dreams are made of these / Who am I to disagree / Travelled the world and the seven seas (Sweet Dreams, Eurhythmics)

— Slow motion Walter, the fire engine guy = Smoke on the water, fire in the sky (Smoke On The Water, Deep Purple)

und – immer wieder gern gehört – Agathe Bauer = I got the power (I got the power, Snap)
